Kuba vsako leto Generalni skupščini predloži poročilo o posledicah ameriške blokade, ki traja že 46 let. V šestnajstih zaporednih resolucijah Generalne skupščine Združenih narodov praktično vse države sveta izglasujejo resolucijo, ki ZDA poziva k odpravi sankcij. Edine države, ki so lani glasovale proti, so bile še Izrael, Palau, Maršalovi otoki in Makronezija.
Največji problem ni direktna blokada, temveč pritiski na tretje države, ki poslujejo s Kubo. ZDA prepovedujejo prodajo izdelkov, ki vsebujejo več kot 10% ameriških komponent, čeprav podjetja niso v ameriški lasti. Ladje, ki so prevažale tovor za Kubo ne smejo pristajati v ameriških pristaniščih, banke, ki poslujejo s Kubo ne smejo poslovati v ZDA. Na spisku dobrin, ki so pod ameriškim embargom, spadajo še cepiva, zdravila, semena in pesticidi.
46 letna ekonomska blokada po ocenah kubanskih oblasti presega 93 mrd dolarjev, dodatnih 54 mrd škode je pripisano sovražnim dejavnostim, vključno s sabotažami, terorističnimi napadi in propagandno vojno.
Edini problem resolucij Generalne skupščine je, kljub nedvomni demokratičnosti odločitev, da njeni sklepi razen moralne avtoritete nimajo nikakršnih pravnih posledic.
NAPAD NA SIRSKO OZEMLJE
Ameriške specialne enote so v helikopterskem desantu napadle vas v Siriji. Pri tem so ubile 8 ljudi, med njimi 4 otroke. V državi so zaradi dejanja ogorčene tako oblasti kot prebivalstvo. Sirija je pri Varnostnem svetu ZN in generalnem sekretarju ZN vložila uradni protest zaradi kršenja mednarodnega prava, konkretno državne suverenosti in uboja nedolžnih civilistov. Varnostnemu svetu je sporočila, da je odgovoren za preprečitev možnih ponovnih vdorov na suvereno ozemlje. Bela hiša dogodka noče komentirati, ameriški uradniki se sklicujejo na pravico do samoobrambe, podobno kot Izrael ob napadu na domnevni sirski jedrski objekt. Američani ponavljajo vzorec delovanja iz čezmejnih napadov na Pakistan, kjer je bilo minuli teden ubitih več kot 100 ljudi.
Iraške oblasti so napad obsodile, saj ustava ne dovoljuje uporabe ozemlja za napade na sosednje države, američane pa pozvale, da takšnih dejanj ne izvajajo več. Podobno so se odzvale tudi sosednje države, Arabska liga in Rusija.
ABU NIDAL JE BIL AMERIŠKI VOHUN
Abu Nidal, zloglasni palestinski terorist, ki je imel na vesti množico atentatov, ugrabitev letal, pobojev talcev, je bil avgusta 2002 prijet s strani iraške tajne policije. V dokumentih, ki so bili odkriti in so bili namenjeni Sadamu Huseinu osebno, je bila tajna policija prepričana, da je Nidal delal za tajne službe Egipta, Kuvajta in ZDA. Njegova naloga naj bi bila povezati režim Sadama Huseina z Al Kaido.
Iz dokumentov je razvidno, da je Abu Nidal storil samomor in ne, da so ga ubili, kot so poročali zahodni mediji.
Abu Nidal je odgovoren za smrt okoli 900 civilistov, večje število diplomatov in predstavnikov PLO. Nekateri biografi in jordanska obveščevalna služba so ga povezovali tudi z Mosadom.
ČLOVEŠTVO KOT KOBILICE
World Wildlife Fund je izdal poročilo o tem, koliko in kako obremenjujemo planet in življenje na njem. Če bo človeštvo nadaljevalo z izkoriščanjem naravnih virov in onesnaževanjem s sedanjim tempom, bo za njegove potrebe v sredini 30ih let 21. stoletja potreben še en enako obdarjen planet.
Država z največjim ekološkim »odtisom« na svetu so Združeni arabski emirati, sledijo jim ZDA in Kuvajt. Najmanj obremenjujejo okolje Malavi, Afganistan in Haiti.
Po ocenah študije bi lahko Američani z obstoječimi tehnologijami zmanjšali ekološki »odtis«, ki je vezan na porabo fosilnih goriv kar za 2/3.
V študiji, ki jo vodijo zadnjih 35 let, so sledili kar 1700 različnim živim vrstam. V povprečju je populacija usahnila za tretjino, v tropskem pasu pa kar za polovico. Glavni vzroki naj bi bili predvsem deforestacija, globalno segrevanje in onesnaževanje. Opozorilo, da manjša biotska raznovrstnost ogroža človeštvo, je maja izdala tudi Evropska komisija. Ta predvideva, da bi lahko do leta 2050 ti vplivi zmanjšali obseg svetovne ekonomije za 7%.
DOLAR IZGUBLJA VLOGO SVETOVNE REZERVNE VALUTE
Na srečanju med ruskim in kitajskim premierom je nastala nova pobuda, da bi državi opustili medsebojno trgovanje v dolarjih in bi podobno kot Argentina in Brazilija to počeli v obeh nacionalnih valutah. Trenuten letni obseg trgovine je ocenjen na 50 mrd $.
Rusija hoče diverzificirati svoje trge, zato se počasi odmika od Evrope. Kitajska bo vlagala sredstva v rusko lesno industrijo, proizvodnjo aluminija, nafte. Za obe državi so zanimiva področja skupnih investicij še letalska industrija, strojništvo, energetika. Direktne naložbe obeh držav so ocenjene na 2 mrd $.

Igor Đukanović, sem podpisal peticijo, a kaj ko Američani ne želijo sodelovati z ostalim svetom. Izučil bi jih šele konkreten padec vrednosti dolarja, vendar Evropska centralna banka kupuje dolarje in s tem umetno znižuje vrednost evru (se že opazi v primerjavi s švicarskim frankom), ter ohranja moč dolarja. Po domače povedano, uporabniki evra plačujemo ameriško požrešnost in vračamo njihove dolgove.

Zdravo, Miro. Že zgodaj zjutraj sem prebral tvoj komentar, a ne vem, kaj bi ti odgovoril. Mislim, da se vsi računi plačajo za nazaj. Krepko za nazaj. Amerika je svetu dala izmenični tok, Hollywood, film, radio, TV. Povrnjeno šele po drugi svetovni vojni. Kriza iz tridesetih, ki se je resda začela v ZDA, je pokazala gnjilobo takratne evropske družbe. V vojni so nas spet rešili Američani in veliko veliko pozneje izstavljali račune. Sedaj dobijajo obresti na teflon, tranzistorje in računalnike ter uporabo satelitov v civilne namene. Verjamem pa, da bodo zelo kmalu dobili račune za Busheva izživljanja.
P.S. Si opazil, da se je stara Evropa zelo počasi odzvala na Miloševiča? Srbi smo imeli veliko v dobrem pri Francozih in Angležih še iz prve svetovne vojne. Milošević je (zlasti v Srebrenici) izjemno hitro zagonil ves ta kapital in nas kolektivno spravil v puf. Tako da se zdaj čudimo “zašto nas svijet nevoli”. Podobno bo z Američani. Zelo kmalu. Čas zdaj v dobi globalizacije in interneta “hitreje” teče. No, jaz še vedno navijam za Ala Gora, Hillary in Obamo ter upam, da bodo popravili škodo, ki jo je “Bush” naredil našemu planetu. (Ni mišljeno kot oseba pač pa kot politična opcija v celoti.)
